Dear colleagues,
Please, find below a message from a high school in Athens interested in developing contacts to and partnerships with other schools in Europe. I would be grateful to you, if you could forward it to schools in your area. Thank you in advance for your help, Alexandra *** Dear Sirs, The roots of our institution, PIERCE – The American College of Greece go back to 1875 to Smyrna. After the national destruction of 1922, PIERCE moved to Athens. In the past, the American College of Greece was honored by the Greek Academy for its contribution to the education of Greek youth. Today, approximately 400 students (between the ages of 15-18) follow the official curriculum as set by the Greek Ministry of Education. Moreover, they participate in more than 40 clubs of a huge range of interests as well as take part in numerous national and international programs. We are strongly interested in collaborating, starting from September 2012, on the following topics: - ImmigrationThe topic could be studied through historical sources, songs, theater, visual arts, etc. - EntrepreneurshipThe topic could be analyzed through programs of establishing student enterprises (e.g. Junior Achievement) - Architecture and artsThrough this program local architecture can be analyzed in relation to history and art movements The programs should involve students between the ages of 15 – 18. We are interested in communicating and working together via the World Wide Web and organizing exchange visits to each other’s schools in order to present our work. Hoping to hear from you soon.
Sincerely,Angeliki Kechagia,
Director of the Lyceum (lykeiarchis@acg.edu) Maximos Vasileiou, Deputy Director of the Lyceum (mvasiliou@acg.edu) --
